Campaign Right of Choice: No transparent vote count again
The recommendations pronounced by the Central Election Committee do not contain any serious changes, the observation campaign Right of Choice announced. All the reforms suggested by the Belarusian authorities are cosmetic, the campaign coordinator Dzyanis Sadouski told Euroradio.
Dzyanis Sadouski: "Looking at the recommendations published by the CEC, we can see that there will be no changes. Observers will not see the vote count. Ideally, observers should be able to see every ballot paper and the ticks in them. They should make sure that all the ballot papers are sorted the right way.”
More attention will be paid to the transparency of the vote count, CEC chairperson Lidziya Yarmoshyna said in March 2016. One side of the table where the votes are counted will be given to observers, she said.
