Cheated customer from Magiliow to sue Belarusbank

Aliaksej Pawlowski, a cheated bank customer in Magioliow, is set to sue the Belarusbank, after his money has depreciated at dozens of times over the past 10 years.
All his life, Pawlowski worked in the construction sector and managed to save a huge amount of money for himself and his five children. In 1997 he opened an account at one of Belarusbank's branches and deposited Br33 million (then $1127) for 20 percent annual interest rate.

However, the 2000 denimination decreased his deposit to Br33,000. Afterwards, inflation continued dropping thus decreasing the annual interest rate for Pawlowski's deposit. In 2007, Belarusbank notified the man that his deposit interest rate dropped at 0.5 percent.

As a result, the man saves only Br170 annually. He calculated that if he deposited money at the currency account, he would have mande nearly $700.

Pawlowski wrote to the manager of the bank's regional branch in Magiliow, seeking compensation of his deposit over the past 10 years and punishment of those who cheated him, reports http://www.bulletinonline.org
