Committee to Protect Journalists urges to resume investigation of Byabenin’s death

The Committee to Protect Journalists (New York, USA) is urging to resume the investigation of the death of the founder and head of charter97.org Aleh Byabenin. It is said in a special appeal of the organization, informs BelaPAN. The Committee to Protect Journalists is worried about the Office of the Public Prosecutor’s decision to close the case. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, there are too many questions that have to be answered and a lot of missing evidence in the official investigation. The authorities should allow independent experts to conduct an international investigation, thinks the coordinator of the Europe and Central Asia Program Nina Ognianova.
Let us remind you that Byabenin’s body was found hanged in his summer house on September 3. The official investigation decided that it was a suicide. OSCE experts also confirmed the version.

The journalist’s colleagues and friends think that the version is inconsistent.
