Communal services in Brest save $250K on street bulbs
New power-saving natrium bulbs are now in use by communal services in Brest. Syarhey Avadovich, the director of Brest Street Light company, told the European Radio for Belarus, that his staff has replaced 16500 bulbs over the past several months.
Compared with mercury bulbs, previously in use on the streets of Brest, natrium bulbs consume 40 percent of electricity less, while increasing the power of light.
The new bulbs have allowed the Brest auhorities to save $250,000. The bulbs are bought from General Electric.
The foreign-made bulbs can endure up to 6 years and have a better performance than the Russian and Ukrainian analogues.
