Czesław Niemen’s memorial plaque installed in Hrodna

A memorial plaque with a bronze portrait of rock musician Czesław Niemen was opened in Hrodna Humanitarian College in on June 6, Hrodnenskaya Prauda reports.
The famous rock musician studied in this building in 1954. His work united Belarus and Poland.
Head of the Council of the Republic Mihail Myasnikovich, Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Stanisław Karczewski, the musician’s widow Malgorzata Niemen, Polish Ambassador Artur Michalski and a number of Belarusian officials attended the opening ceremony.
The memorial plaque was made by Hrodna sculptor Uladzimir Pantsyaleyeu. It is made of light Italian granite and is embellished with a bronze bas-relief with the portrait of the musician. The inscription is made in two languages – Belarusian and Polish.
"It is symbolic that the memorial plaque has bene opened in the year of the musician’s 80th anniversary. The history has completed a circle. He is in Hrodna again and new generations are speaking about his work more and more,” the musician’s widow Malgorzata Niemen noted.
