Denmark allocates 700K euros to support the oppressed in Belarus
There are about 1,300 political prisoners in Belarus
Denmark will spend 700 thousand euros to support the oppressed in Belarus and their families, reports the press service of the head of the United Transitional Cabinet, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. Earlier, the International Humanitarian Fund was supported by Norway and Sweden. They managed to collect more than 2 million euros for this year.
"We are very grateful to Denmark and all the Nordic countries for their solidarity and support," writes Tsikhanouskaya. "Today thousands of people are behind bars, thousands of oppressed people and their families need help, rehabilitation and treatment. Your solidarity gives us hope, energy and above all confidence that we will not be left alone with our misfortune. Thank you".
The International Humanitarian Fund for Belarusian Political Prisoners and their Families was established in Norway in the spring of 2002. It provides medical, material and psychological assistance, as well as rehabilitation, to those subjected to political repression by the regime of Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
