EU official Gunnar Wiegand arrives in Belarus
He will hold a series of meetings at the MFA.
On November 18, Gunnar Wiegand, European External Action Service Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and OSCE arrived in Belarus.
According to MFA spokesman Dzmitry Mironchyk, EU representative will hold meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to BelaPAN, Wiegand's visit has to do with the fact that the EU and Belarus are holding consultations on issues of modernization. The third round was held on September 29 - October 1 in Brussels. The Belarusian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Alena Kupchyna. EU delegation consisting of experts of the European External Action Service and the European Commission, was headed by Gunnar Wiegand.
Incidentally, the head of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka said that Wiegand arrived for secret talks with representatives of the Belarusian authorities behind closed doors.
