EU ready to assist Belarus in environment protection

The European Union is prepared to offer assistance to Belarus to protect environment, EU's charge d'affairs in Belarus Jean-Erich Holzapfel told Belapan. The diplomat said that both the government agencies that deal with environment protection and NGO could qualify for assistance. EU experts are ready to discuss with Belarus the possibilities of cooperation in the field of climate change prevention, water resources management, waste management, preservation of biodiversity as well as reaching bilateral agreements on environment protection.

Belarus has been taking part in several international ecological programs like the one that aims to develop a policy to manage water resources in the River Bug basin between Poland, Ukraine and Belarus. Our country is also cooperating with Lithuania to boost enviornmental safety of common river  basins.
