European legal experts urge to stop persecution of Belarusian lawyers

"We are really worried about the attempts to create obstacles to the work of Belarusian lawyers carrying out their professional duties and about the fact that the people arrested after Dec.19 action including 4 presidential candidates are unable to hold private meetings with their lawyers. We are urging you to give a written account of the Ministry’s intention to stop the practice directed against Belarusian lawyers and to provide the arrested with access to legal assistance”, - inform the authors of the statement, reports the human rights centre “Vyasna”.
