Gazeta Wyborcza: Belarus is the only Poland’s neighbour that has not announced national mourning
“I am ashamed for my country. Other states have reacted to Poland’s pain the way they should and our country limited to diplomatic assistance to the victims’ relatives”, - reports the biggest Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza quoting a historian Iryna Laurouskaya who sent an open letter to the Poles. The newspaper reminds that the Belarusian opposition mourned near the Polish Embassy, ordinary people brought flowers and candles and Alyaksandr Milinkevich urged Lukashenka to announce a national mourning.
Syarhei Maskevich, the head of the Foreign Affairs Commission in the House of Representatives would also welcome this decision.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s press service has informed ERB: “It seems that the President has gone on a trip to Homel Province so we do not have any information about his further actions”.
