Homel driver accused of crime
The 39-year-old driver is in the intensive care department of the local War Veterans Hospital.
The criminal case was started against him for a road rules violation that resulted in a person’s death. The incident occurred on January 16. The driver of bus #17 drove into Hramyka Square, destroying benches and wooden sculptures on his way. He ran over a woman who died on the spot.
The driver had no visible injuries. Doctors are trying to find out if he had any disease that could provoke the incident. According to the latest information, the driver had an epileptic fit. However, it has not been officially confirmed.
The deceased 42-year-old woman was a nurse. She had a 20-year-old son.
A 58-year-old passenger of the bus was also taken to hospital with fractures. She received them on leaving the bus when it stopped after colliding with a wooden sculpture, she said.
