Homel journalist interrogated by plain clothes officials in Russia

Russian customs officers detained independent Belarusian journalist Larysa Shchyrakova and her driver Kastus Zhukouski on November 24, Euroradio reported.

The journalist was making a video report about Russia restricting the transit of export from Belarus. They made a video in Dobrush District at the Belarusian-Russian border and enter Russia after that. The journalist filmed trucks leaving Belarus there.

Russian frontier guards stopped them at first, Shchyrakova told BelaPAN. They claimed that the journalist filmed FSB members which was forbidden. However, she only filmed trucks and the video was only 9 seconds long, the journalist said.

Strangers in plain clothes spent two hours interrogating her after that. They did not introduce themselves. The people wanted to know why Shchyrakova had been making the videos. They asked her to delete the moments they did not like from that video. Then they let Shchyrakova off.
