Hooligans beat Syrian doctor on commuter train
The prime suspect and his friends are being interrogated at police custody for alleged assault on Syrian doctor on commuter train.
Euroradio has talked to a friend of the prime suspect (he is suspected of beating a Syrian doctor on Orsha-Minsk train on Saturday morning). The young man has been detained. He and his friends were brought to the police in the morning. They spent the night at home. The prime suspect has been being interrogated for 2 hours. His friend is waiting for an interrogation.
He explained the reason for the fight to Euroradio:
"I didn’t hear what they were talking about. I just saw them talking and then the fight began. He came up to him and said something. The Syrian took him by the leg and tried to make him seat next to him but he hit him.”
The young men were coming back home from a summer cottage. They were detained after their photos had been distributed by mass media.
The Syrian (in the photo) was sitting alone when a company of teenagers got on the train at Slabada station and sat next to him. They did not pay attention to the foreigner at first. However, they had a brief conversation later and the young man hit the Syrian in the face.
The doctor tried to resist but the young man was stronger. The Syrian had a nosebleed but the guy kept hitting him even after a few of his friends went out of the coach.
The fight stopped when the other passengers expressed their indignation. Somebody called the police but they did not arrive in time. The hooligans left (the guy in the blue shirt beat the Syrian, witnesses say). The young men didn’t even try to flee after the fight, witnesses stressed.
