Hummerthrowers disqualified for doping
The
International Olympic Committee has disqualified Belarusian hummer throwers
Vadzim Dzevyatouski and Ivan Tsikhan for doping, and withdrew their silver and
bronze medals, respectively. Dzevyatouski
has been banned from Olympic Games permanently, and Tsikhan has been reportedly
disqualified for two years. The lifetime ban on Dzevyatouski was
considered appropriate on the grounds that it is the second time the athlete
was found to have violated IOC anti-doping rules.
The
athletes tested positive for exogenous testosterone.
