Hungary refutes information about attack on its Ambassador in Minsk

The portal Еuobserver.com has published information that the policemen beat the Hungarian Ambassador Ferenc Kontra in the head on December 19, 2010 in Minsk. However, this information has not been officially confirmed yet. "I have checked and found out there were no attacks whatsoever. No one suffered", — Kontra's deputy Laszlo Daroci said on the phone today from Minsk.

The Hungarian Ambassador is now in Minsk hospital. He has problems with his eyesight.

Two diplomatic sources informed the portal that Kontra had confirmed he had been beaten in a conversation with his colleagues, however, this attack was not connected with the eyesight problems.

The third source claims that the incident happened on December 19 near the Red Catholic Church at the Independence Square in Minsk, where the action of protest took place.
