IC: Uralkali director-general did damage to Belarus’ national interests
Vladislav Baumgertner has been detained in Minsk today, his whereabouts are unknown.
Press secretary of Minsk Investigation Committee Pavel Travulka told Euroradio:
“The criminal case was started by the General Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of power abuse. They did a lot of damage to Belarus’ state and civil interests. Belaruskali and BPC suffered major losses.”
No details of the detention and Baumgertner’s whereabouts have been reported. The date when the criminal case was started has not been revealed either. The latter is facing from 3 to 10 years of imprisonment and confiscation of property.
Vladislav Baumgertner is also head of the supervisory board of Belarusian Potash Company. A number of other members of the BPC administration are wanted by Interpol. Member of the supervisory board Aleh Pyatrou, senior deputy director general Kanstantsin Saladounikau and head of the freight department Dzmitry Samoilau are among the suspects.
