Ihar Babkou receives Giedroyc Prize
The award ceremony was held in the congress hall of the Minsk hotel Victoria on June 2.
Six authors were nominated for the prize: Ihar Babkou with Minute: Three stories, Alena Brava with Gift. Forgoveness. Vergebung, Syarhei Veratsila with Vytautas’ Broken Heart, Artur Klinau – Empties, Vintses Mudrou – Bahun and Lyudmila Rublyouskaya – Nights at Plyaban Mills.
Vintses Mudrou took the third position and received a grant in Wrocław, Artur Klinau took the second position and received a grant in Sweden. The jury decided that Ihar Babkou was the winner.
The Giedroyc Prize was established at the end of 2011. It is awarded for the best prose book in Belarusian published the previous year in the genres ‘poetical fiction’ and ‘essay’. Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu got the prize last year and Pavel Kastsyukovich – in 2012.
