Interior ministry set to simplify registration for foreign visitors
Foreign visitors that arrived in Belarus legally in the framework of the 5-day visa-free program are now allowed to stay in the country up to 30 days, Head of Migration Unit at the Interior Ministry's Citizenship and Migration Department Vadzim Zabaronak said at the news conference on 25 July, reports Interior Ministry's press office.
The news comes one day after the Belarus president signed an edict, extending the visa waiver for foreign visitors from 5 up to 30 days.
Zabaronak noted that under the current regulation, foreigners are obliged to register their temporary residence address in Belarus with the police within fives days since their arrival in Belarus (except Sundays, public holidays and official days off).
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry has drafted a legislation that allows foreigners to stay in Belarus without registration for 10 days. The foreign visitors that stay in hotels, health resorts, rehabilitation centers, agrotourism farms will be expemted from registration, according to the draft.
It is also planned that the foreigners who will be staying at the addresses of physical persons will be able to register online via the unified 'one-window' e-services portal. They will not be required to walk to the police immigration office. Moreover, the online registration is expected to be free of charge.
