Italian Senate adopts resolution on Belarus
The Italian Senate has adopted a resolution on Belarus. It has been prepared by the Senators of the Italian Nonviolent Radical Party, informs the web-site of the human rights center "Viasna".
The petition obliges the Italian government to plead the Council of Europe should urge the Belarusian authorities to introduce moratorium on the death penalty, to free the political prisoners Mikalaj Autukhovich and Uladzimir Asipenka. Apart from that, the resolution points out the necessity to conduct free and fair presidential elections on December 19.
The adopted document also contains a request that the government should support and finance the European Humanities University.
