Kazulin about Varlamau: they did not interrogate me

Fashion designer Sasha Varlamau is accused of power abuse. Most of his "crimes" were committed in the period of cooperation with BSU. He was invited there by Alyaksandr Kazulin who was the rector of BSU at that time. When will the person who invited Varlamau to make "an interesting project" appear in court?

Euroradio: Have you been invited to give evidence?

Alyaksandr Kazulin: I haven't. Why? I left BSU 10 years ago.

Euroradio: But Varlamau referred to 1998-1999 in his speech. You were the rector of BSU at that time and he said that you had initiated the joint project of BSU and "Sasha Varalmau's Fashion Agency". Logically, the investigators and the judge should want to talk to you.

Alyaksandr Kazulin : No, nobody wants to talk to me for some reason!

Euroradio: Did you really invite Varlamau and suggest making "an interesting project"?

Alyaksandr Kazulin: It happened so long ago that I cannot recall everything... Creative people can always bring something interesting. But every creative person needs to be controlled. The creativity may prove harmful without any control.

Euroradio: According to Varlamau, BSU did not allocate enough money for various events and fashion shows. That is why they had to find "ways out". Did BSU really fail to finance this activity properly?

Alyaksandr Kazulin: You are asking such strange questions! Ask yourself about some details of 10 years ago. I cannot recall everything! A creative person worked there. But the realization of every idea needs to be put under control.

Euroradio: Varlamau is accused of using the territory of BSU, namely of the BSU Lyceum, for paid classes. As far as I understand, he used the territory for free...

Alyaksandr Kazulin: But he probably was part of the BSU structure! "Universal Models" is a BSU structure. Where else can they work? In BSU.  

Euroradio:  The BSU structure you have just mentioned was created with your help. Did you watch its activities, did you ask to what fashion shows BSU students went?

Alyaksandr Kazulin: That's interesting, you sound like an interrogator! A rector has a lot of responsibilities. Everyone is responsible for their own scope of activities.

Euroradio: Did BSU students complain about Varlamau and their participation in the activities of "Universal Models" to you? Did they say that they were being cheated, taken to wrong places? Did they mention any problems connected with daily allowances?

Alyaksandr Kazulin: As far as I know, the complaints began in 2004. All the problems started then.

Euroradio: What is your attitude to Varlamau's trial? 

Alyaksandr Kazulin: It is necessary to wait for the results. We need to listen to the witnesses. It is such a tricky question...

Sasha Varlamau is accused of using the BSU working space for conducting paid classes of "Sasha Varlamau's Fashion Agency". The designer is accused of stealing the salaries of employees of the BSU Centre of Youth Fashion, presenting false information to the BSU accounting department and misappropriation of daily allowances that belonged to delegates. Varlamau has already been jailed for 2 years. His trial started on February 4.
