They resisted the police during the assault and were shot down.
The police shot down brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi suspected of January 7 attack on the office of the magazine Charlie Hebdo. The riot police assaulted the building where the brothers were hiding in Dammartin-en-Goele. Their hostage was released, AFP notes.
Brothers Kouachi ran out of the building and started shooting at policemen, BBC reports.
A special operation was conducted to release hostages from a Jewish shop in Paris at the same time. Several hostages were released and the attacker was ‘neutralised’, French mass media report. The number of released hostages is still unknown. The criminal took at least five people hostage, there were women and children among them, some sources reported earlier.
