Kremlin: No offense over Lukashenka to skip Moscow parade
According to Putin's press secretary, Belarus and Russia share same feelings over the Victory Day.
Kremlin understands the fact that Alyaksandr Lukashenka wants to celebrate May 9 in Minsk, not in Moscow. This statement was made on Monday, by Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for Vladimir Putin.
"Our closest ally, the president of Belarus, will be present at a similar parade in Minsk. Belarus celebrates the Victory on a massive scale," Interfax quoted Peskov as saying. The Russian president's spokesman said that Belarus shares the same feelings experienced by the Russians during the holidays.
More than two dozen leaders of various countries refused to visit Moscow for the Victory Parade. On April 18, during the Saturday subbotnik, a Soviet tradition of voluntary labor to clean the city up after winter, the leader of Belarus also stated that on 9 May he plans to be in Minsk to review the festive parade.
