Latvia likely to arrest property of Belarus's presidency office
The Riga county court is expected this week to hear a case associated with the Belarus recreation resort in Latvia. T.E.K.Group LLC is set to arrest the property of the Office of the Belarus's President in Latvia for debts. The story started in 2002. The company bought oil from Russian for the Belarus's state-run company Belaya Rus, connected with the administration of the Belarusian president.
After Belaya Rus ran bankrupt and its executives were imprisoned, T.E.K.Group LLC decided to recover debts from the Office of the Belarus's President in court. Initially, the case was heard by a court in the Latvian court of Jurmala, which ruled that property should be arrested in Belarus, not in Latvia, according to Nasha Niva newspaper.
