L.O.M. “LOMstalgy”
This is the fifth album of businessman Yauhen Saldatsenka and Co.
The inspired, unstoppable and untamed businessman, Yauhen Saldatsenka, has recorded another album. The fifth one. He has decided to refuse from restaurant chanson tunes and has switched to blues rock. Musicians from “Krama” were invited to help realize the blues rock idea. As a result, some songs like “Don’t sing for me, baby” “resemble” the real “Krama” while lacking Varashkevich’s energetic Belarusian vocal.
On the whole, taking into account the fact that Syarhei Truhanovich, the guitarist of “Krama” and “Palats” was the second important person for “LOMstalgy”, it is easy to understand the style of the recording, the culture of its texts and the new trend of Saldatenka’s works. Truhanovich is an amateur of “technically complicated and sensible notes”. However, the musicians and the sound producer decided to use “the old approach” and muffled the instruments while emphasizing the vocal. That is why the recording sounds a bit strange.
It is worth mentioning that Saldatsenka got a great idea starting the work on “LOMstalgia” - mixing the usual L.O.M. accompaniment (Antsishyn and Co.) with musicians from other bands. It looks as if drummers Dzima Harytanovich or Anton Matsulevich, guitarists Syahei Kananovich and Yauhen Buzouski, bass players Ulad Plushchau or Yuras Lyaukou may help the businessman record his next album. And Saldatsenka may start singing the good old rock. By the way, as regards the vocal: the singer switches to whispering in “LOMstalgia” from time to time. The vocal could be more versatile taking into account the fact that one of the most talented Minsk voice teachers, Ina Perasetskaya, is his backing vocalist .
Saldatsenka sings about sadness, natural disasters, spiritual wounds and joy. However, it is still not clear for whom Yauhen sings his songs. “L.O.M.” has discs and clips. But the band does not give any concerts. No concerts means no demand for the music. Still, 50-year-old amateurs of blues rock and old bands may like “LOMstalgia”: in any case, some people may find it sincere!
