Belarus should
make steps to liberalize the economy and debureaucratize the whole system, Alyaksandr
Lukashenka said at a government conference on Thursday.
"We should use the situation to make resolute
steps to liberalize the economy and life in general by debureaucratizing the
whole system. We should do our outmost in this sense before January 1," he
stressed, noting that "it is necessary to do what we were afraid to do and
what we failed to do."
Lukashenka also thanked Belarusians for their confidence in the
country's banking system.
He said the
next meeting of the Belarusian-Russian Supreme State Council, which is to be
held late next month, will be crucial, noting that he intends to raise
substantive issues, reports Nasha Niva.
