Lukashenka promises to Sikorski that UPB problem will be solved by expert group
The Belarusian leader Alyaksandr Lukashenka has met the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in Kiev and discussed the problem of the Union of Poles in Belarus. Lukashenka has claimed that, being the Belarusian leader, he will solve all the problems of Poles in Belarus. He has assured that he will do everything so that Belarusian Poles would not feel worse than Poles in Poland.
BelTA informs that Poland has claimed that it is ready to look for a compromise in the issues of the Union of Poles.
In its turn, gazeta.pl informed about the results of the meeting and quoted the following Sikorski’s statement: “The Belarusian President has assured me that he will look for a solution and a group of experts may appear to solve the problem by finding a quick solution that would satisfy both sides. We accept this declaration as a good sign and will wait for its results”.
Sikorski has urged Polish political forces and journalists to allow experts do this offstage job without arousing social anxiety.
