Lukashenka raises pensions
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenka has signed an edict ordering to raise pensions effective from September 1, reports the Interfax news agency. Under the edict, on September 1, 2007 the existing pensions will be reviewed as based on an average wage of Br 663,600, the presidential press office said.
As a result, an average pension will be raised by 7.5 percent to reach Br315,300 ($160) in September.
