Makey: We want Riga summit to give hope for peace and stability
On Thursday, the Eastern Partnership summit opened in the Latvian capital. Belarus was represented by the Foreign Minister.
On May 21, the Eastern Partnership summit opened in Riga. Belarus was represented by its Foreign Minister, Uladzimir Makey (pictured). He noted that Belarus hopes that the European region will remain an island of peace and stability. "Whatever happens in Ukraine, it also applies to economic issues and financial problems," BELTA quoted the Minister as saying.
Speaking about the possible outcome of the summit, Mr Makey reiterated that Belarus would like to see it "give hope that our region remains a hotbed of peace, tranquility and stability, not a hotbed of confrontation."
