"Malady Front" urges to demolish monument to Lenin in Minsk, Ministry of Culture refuses

The Ministry of Culture has refused the appeal of “Malady Front” (Czechia) to deprive the monument to Lenin in Independence Square in Minsk of the status of a historical and cultural value. The Ministry of Culture noted that the monument to Lenin had been created by sculptor M.Manizer and architect I.Langbard as an integral part of the composition of Lenin Square (modern Independence Square). In the opinion of the Ministry of Culture, the monument and the Government’s House are one of the most important examples of the synthesis of architecture and monumental art of the Soviet period of the Belarusian history and are still a composition dominant of the square.
