Market vendors on spontaneous protest in Pinsk
A spontaneous protest of entrepreneurs against tax collectors broke out yesterday in Pinsk, Brest region.
When tax collectors, who had arrived from a neighboring district, began confiscating the stock from one of local vendors in the city's market place, entrepreneurs teamed up to defend the "victim". They forced the tax collectors to retreat. The police, called for help, would not provoke the crowd into violent resistance and left the scene quietly as well.
Vendors say they have been subjected to various inspections almost daily over the past month. Even those who admitted minor violations are subjected to mandatory fines.
