Medvedev threatens to raise gas prices for countries that will quit EAEC

Мядзведзеў прыгразіў павысіць кошты на газ краінам, якія выйдуць з ЕАЭС

Belarus and Russia exchanged accusations at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek. The head of Belarusian government Andrei Kabyakou said the unresolved problems in Belarus-Russian relations prevented our country from participating in multilateral integration processes. In response, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev hinted that this statement had a semblance of blackmail, reports tvc.ru.

Medvedev added that the Eurasian Eonomic Union (EAEU) member states enjoyed discounted gas prices only due to their membership in this organizaion. When Kabyakou noted there was no real progress in the EAEU integration, the head of Russian government reacted: "Nobody is forcefully keeping no one here."

Media reported earlier that during the meeting in Bishkek Belarusian Prime Minister expressed concern over the problems in the oil and gas sector between Minsk and Moscow and Eurasian Economic Commission's inaction. Kabyakou also explained that Aliaksandr Lukashenka did not attend the recent EAEU summit "due to serious reasons" in relations between Belarus and Russia. "We are forced to state that the bilateral agreements are not met," said Kabyakou.
