Meeting of Contact Group on Ukraine postponed
The subgroups discussed the ceasefire, elections and removal of arms.
Workgroups on Ukraine discussed the possibility of holding elections in Donets Basin, ceasefire and removal of troops in Minsk on June 2. The exchange of captives was also discussed, some sources report. The issues were discussed ‘in a constructive way’, agreement was reached on some of them and the others are still a problem, OSCE representative Heidi Tagliavini said.
The Contact Group was supposed to listen to the subgroups’ coordinators but it did not happen.
Some discrepancies were revealed and the discussion of the work of the subgroups was postponed, BelaPAN reports. The meeting of the trilateral group was postponed due to the demarche of Russia’s representative Azamat Kulmukhametov, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
The next dates have not been announced, BELTA reports.
The last meeting of the trilateral contact group on Ukraine was held in Minsk on May 22. Representatives of Ukraine, Russia, OSCE and the self-declared republics ‘DPR’ and ‘LPR’ took part in it.
