Meldonium remains on WADA list of banned substances
WADA has published the list of substances that will be banned on January 1, 2017. Banned a year ago, meldonium has remained on the list. The substance has been the reason for numerous doping scandals so far.
If traces of meldonium are found in sportsmen’s tests, it will be considered a violation of the anti-doping rules.
WADA reconsidered the allowed concentration of the substance in blood following a series of scandals that made specialists doubt how fast the drug could leave the body. It let a number of sportsmen avoid disqualification.
Traces of meldonium were found in 12 Belarusian athletes from four kinds of sport.
