Milinkevich gets $2000 fine
The leader of the united pro-democracy forces in Belarus, Aliaksandr Milinkevich, has been fined with over Br4.5 million for having allegedly illegally crossed the Belarusian border. The amount equals his annual income. We remind that last November the politician traveled abroad with the passport of his son, also named Aliaksandr.
The Belarus border guards noticed the misrake only after Milinkevich returned back to Belarus and filed a protocol about the administrative offense. The court hearing took place on Thursday in absentia of the politician.
During the first court hearing on January 5, the judge said the protocol had been filed with violations and sent it for revision.
Milinkevich did not recognize the new protocol and noted that it had been put down illegally, aiming to punish him at any cost.
Aliaksandr Milinkevich is going to appeal the court ruling in a higher court, according to the press office of the politician.
