New Minsk mayor nominee approved by city council
At 41, Andrei Shorats is the youngest mayor in the history of Minsk.
On November 10, at an extraordinary session Minsk City Council voted for the candidacy of Andrei Sharets, appointed to the post of Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee. All the 53 MPs present at the session cast their votes in favor of the candidate.
In his speech, Andrei Sharets spoke about the main problems to be solved in the capital. Among them - the improvement of Minsk investment climate.
Andrei Sharets: "There are certain problems in medical care for the people in the capital. It is necessary to consider the issue closely. In addition, there are issues of economic situation at enterprises of both municipal and republican form of property".
The deputies of the City Council thanked ex-mayor Mikalai Ladutska for his work.
In the last four years, Andrei Shorats worked as Minister of Public Utilities. He was aapointed head of the Minsk City Executive Committee, because he has no important connections in the capital.
