More than 1600 people amnestied this year
More than 1600 prisoners have been released during the current amnesty in Belarus. It is two thirds of the planned number, informs “Interfax-West” referring to the Sentence Execution Department.
The amnesty will end on November 7. 800 more people are expected to be released from prisons.
Let us remind you that only those convicts who have compensated for the state’s losses can be amnestied this year.
The department notes that several famous people will not be amnestied. Among them are a former head of “Belarusian State Broadcasting Company” Yahor Rybakou, ex-director of Minsk Tractor Plant Mihail Lyavonau and senior deputy of the Economic Crimes Prevention Department Ivan Klimyankou.
