Netflix has frozen work on the project of Belarusian director Darya Zhuk. She told about it in an interview with DW.

Darya Zhuk was working on the Russian crime thriller "ZATO" for Netflix. She announced the start of work on the movie a year ago.

The movie is set in the post-Soviet era. Journalist Kristina and policeman Dashkin try to investigate the disappearance of a child in the closed city of Lobachevsk 4.

The director believes that the movie she made is the best work of her life. "On the one hand, it was a shock, on the other - I knew that some kind of answer had to happen. It was difficult to let go of this project, but it was possible. I shot the best footage of my life, and now it may lie on the shelf forever," Darya Zhuk regrets.

The woman says that the platform took a wait-and-see approach to her project. She sees the reason in the fact that the Russian market has closed for Netflix due to the war, so the company is moving on.

"That market closed for them, so they moved on. I did the same thing. I have a lot of other projects that have distracted me. I became a mother. That was a new life for me as well," says Darya.
