New wave of universal fingerprinting hits Baranavichy
Baranavichy men have received fingerprinting summons again.
The editor-in-chief of “Hantsavichy Time” and “Nyasvizh Time” Alyaksei Bely who was also summoned to the local department of the Interior has informed ERB about it:
Bely: “I phoned the BAJ legal expert, Andrei Bastunets, and he has said I had to go through fingerprinting only if I was a suspect in a criminal case. I phoned the District Department of the Interior and they confirmed it. However, the summons said: “you have to come; otherwise you will be subjected to administrative or criminal responsibility”. Anyway, I went to the District Department of the Interior just for the fun of it”.
Bely met a few other people going through fingerprinting in the department and saw a pile of summons for citizens there. Unlike employees of many other Belarusian District Departments of the Interior, Baranavichy policemen put soap and a sponge in the WC so that visitors could wash off mastic from their hands.
