Opposition advised to take advantage of crisis

The Belarusian opposition should pin its hopes on a global financial crisis, said a participant in a conference organized by the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Studies (BISS) in Kyiv. The conference began in the Ukrainian capital on November 11.

Ales Antsipenka, a participant, said that the global crisis has affected relations between Belarus and the European Union.

"The factor that can change relations of Belarus or significantly influence the political and social situation in the country is the global financial crisis. Surely, we will also experience social effects and economic consequences that can affect Belarusian society," he said.
