PACE observation mission to arrive in Minsk
The PACE observation mission will pay an interlocutory visit to Belarus on August 9 and 10. The delegation ill consist of five members including PACE rapporteur on Belarus Andrea Rigoni. Austrian MP Gisela Wurst will head the mission, BelaPAN reports.
The mission will assess the election campaign and political climate in the country before the parliamentary election appointed for September 11.
The delegation is planning to meet with the administration of the House of Representatives, Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Central Election Commission. It will also meet with the opposition, head of the Belarusian State Broadcasting Company, representatives of mass media and the civil society and diplomats.
The expanded mission will return to Belarus in September. 12 people will be observing the election on the polling day.
