Picket in support of political prisoners takes place near Belarusian Embassy in Moscow
A picket “in support of Belarusian political Prisoners” took place near the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow on February 16, reports “Eho Moskvy”.
30 activists of Russian youth movement “Defence”, “Free Radicals” and “Apple” and representatives of the Belarusian community gathered near the Belarusian diplomatic representative office.
They demanded to release a journalist Alyaksandr Zdzvizhkou, imprisoned for three years for reprinting cartoons of Prophet Mohammed and an activist of the youth opposition movement Andrei Kim. Participants of the action collected signatures for a special petition they were going to send to the Belarusian Embassy. Meanwhile, the Russian police detained five young people who were trying to disrupt the picket. They were released an hour later.
