Police refuse to recognize Nyaklyayeu’s daughters as his close relatives
The writer and leader of the Tell the Truth civil campaign Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu is not allowed to travel abroad to meet his daughters.
Nyaklyayeu’s book Pig in a Poke has been presented in Budapest, Belarusian Partisan reports. It was published in the prestigious publishing house ABOVO.
Nyaklyayeu was not allowed to leave for Budapest to attend the presentation. He was not allowed to attend the recent presentation of his Red Setting in Finland either.
He could not leave Belarus when he applied for it because of legal restrictions, he said. Nyaklyayeu referred to the example of Iryna Halip serving the same sentence as he does. The journalist was allowed to meet her husband abroad.
Nyaklyayeu asked for permission to meet his two daughters living abroad in order to attend the presentation. However, the authorities replied that his daughters could not be considered his close relatives because they did not have a common household.
