Presidential contenders to sign common declaration on August 24
Presidential contenders have agreed to sign a common declaration today, on July 18. The festive signature will take place in the BNF headquarters on August 24. One of the contenders, Mikola Statkevich, has informed ERB about it.
There will be four presidential contenders and representatives of three other candidates – of the UCP, “Narodnaya Hramada”, BCD, PBNF, “Fair World”, Ales Mihalevich and Alyaksandr Milinkevich. Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu and Alyaksandr Yarashuk have also agreed to join them, says Mr. Statkevich. Andrei Sannikau will probably support the declaration as the results of the work of “European Belarus” were taken into account during its preparation.
Statkevich: "We have elaborated a document in which we have agreed to cooperate in the selection of people for election commissions, struggle for changes in the Election Code and to fight against rigging elections. We have agreed to discuss the possibility of creation of a common coordination centre to fulfill these tasks”.
If some contenders are unable to attend the signature of the declaration, they will be able to sign the document in advance, says Statkevich.
