Prominent businessman released on $5mn bail
Yauhen Shyhalou, General Director of Zhdanovichy Trading House, has been released from pretrial detention on Br10 billion bond, the police said in a statement. Shyhalou is currently getting treatment at a cardiology center.
Under the laws, the bailed defendant must report for interrogation sessions. If he violates the procedure, the amount of the bail will be deposited at the bank account of the prosecuting body.
Yauhen Shyhalou was detained on April 5, 2008 in Minsk together with his deputy and a government official.
On April 15, they were charged with the abuse of office under Article 424 in the Penal Code of Belarus.
