Pyatkevich dismissed from Presidential Pardon Board

Natallya Pyatkevich, first deputy head of the Presidential Administration, has been dismissed from the Presidential Pardon Board, which she led for several years.   Pyatkevich has also been sacked from the Commission on Citizenship Matters and the Legal Advisory Council of the President. She is to be replaced by Valery Matskevich, deputy head of the Presidential Administration.

Yezhednevnik claims that Pyatkevich may be preparing to take a maternity leave.

Some observers linked the dismissals to alleged abuse of authority by the Presidential Pardon Board, claiming that it unfoundedly recommended clemency for convicted business owners and some of the money they paid for their release bypassed the state budget.
