363 candidates for deputies registered, 7 withdrawn, 124 got a refusal
According to CEC Chairperson Lidziya Yarmoshyna, at least 3 electoral districts (out of 110) will be single option.
The summarized numbers regarding registration of candidates for membership in the House of Representatives were announced by Yarmoshyna in the ONT TV-Channel program "Theme of the Day. Lidziya Yarmoshyna underlined that about 25% contenders were not registered (124 people). The main flaws were low quality of the collected signatures and mistakes in tax declarations, says Lidziya Yarmoshyna. Among the 363 registered contenders 21 people are current members of the House of Representatives, 60 people are MPs of all convocations. 7 registered contenders left the electoral race.
The CEC Chairperson said on air to the TV-Channel Belarus-1 that at least 3 electoral districts will be single option.
Leader of the movement "For Freedom" Alyaksandr Milinkevich, who wasn't registered, had signatures that were executed "horribly wrong", said Lidziya Yarmoshyna in the "Theme of the Day". "His signatures were so inaccurately executed that it wasn't necessary to involve handwriting experts to see that a great number of signatures there just could not be true", - she said.
The CEC Chairperson stated that there can be more registered candidates: "Nothing is lost yet... Complaints already started arriving to the CEC. Whenever it will be possible to reinstate a candidate's rights, for example, if we think that the district commission acted too brutally (the scope of concealed income does not have a significant meaning), I think we will register a potential candidate then so he would be able to continue his participation in the electoral campaign.
