Alina Skrybunova: They put me in a cell with walls covered with blood

Euroradio: Alina, what did they detain you for?

Skrybunova: “They detained me only for taking pictures of the people who were walking along the street. They accused me of resistance to the policeman, and of damaging his uniform. More than a hundred people were also there, including journalists, and the people who just took pictures or videos of what was happening. Later half of the people were released, but not me, in spite of the fact that we had been detained under one and the same accusation This looks really weird.”

Euroradio: You've mentioned, there were many journalists among the detainees?

Skrybunova: “One of them represented "BelaPAN", a journalist of our city portal was also there, as well as human rights defenders, employees of the independent web-site of Mahileu. There were also several people with cameras, who took pictures and videos either for themselves or for some informational sources”.

Euroradio: What happened on the way?

Skrybunova: “We were supposed to be transported to the court at 12.00, but they managed to do this only by 14.00. They explained to us that the van was broken so we should go to another one.”

Euroradio: Where did you spend the night?

Skrybunova: “We spend much time in the Lenin district police department. I went through all the procedures and they put me in a small place with nowhere to sit on. The walls were covered with blood. It was horrible. I felt total relief when they led us out of there”.

Euroradio: Did you manage to inform your relatives about where you were?

Skrybunova: “I only called them from a police car when they were transporting us to the court.”

Euroradio: What punishment do you expect?

Skrybunova: “Six people have already been convicted. One of the guys has been arrested for 5 days. They looked at me as if I was some kind of a recidivist as I had already stood trial under the same article after December 19. Therefore, I expect a more severe punishment. We've met with our friends, journalists and human rights defenders near the court, they help us morally”.
