Andrej Sannikau demands second round of presidential election
Convicted politician passed an appeal to Belarusian citizens from prison.
The web-site "Charter'97" has published Andrej Sannikau's appeal. Let us remind you, the politician was sentenced to 5 yeras of imprisonment in a reinforced-security colony for the December 19 protest action on December 19.
Sannikau speaks about today's economic crisis in his letter. In his opinion, the worst scenarios for developments in Belarus after the election are coming true. Retention of power by Lukashenka will lead our country to catastrophe. Inability of the current regime to rule Belarus has long become evident and shows its most terrific consequences today, Andrej Sannikau thinks.
As a presidential candidate at the 2010 election, Sanniaku does not recognize its results and considers them falsified. He admits that there was voting at the Belarusian presidential election on December 19, 2010. Results of the voting, according to domestic and international observers, showed no one won election in the first round. Lukashenka has to admit that on December 19, 2010, he did not win 50 percent of the votes necessary for victory, Andrej Sannikau claims.
The ex-candidate reminds that the Central Elections Commission considered him a runner-up. Therefore, he demands to conduct a second round of the election under the international control.
