Belarus to be discussed at "Eastern Partnership" summit
Issues of democracy will be the key topic at the future summit of countries-participants of the "Eastern Partnership".
The President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy has said on February 23 that "the main attention will be paid to such strategical issues as democracy, good government and progress in some unsolved conflicts".
He has underlined that the obligations on granting democracy, supremacy of law and respect for human rights should not be forgotten. In this context, he has recalled the situation in Belarus, with regard to which the European Council announced their special worries a few weeks ago.
"Eastern Partnership" will give us the best instrument for strengthening our cooperation with the Belarusian civil society. At the same time, we will be able to keep our policy of conditional interaction with the government", - the President of the European Council has said.
"Eastern Partnership" summit is to take place in Autumn 2011 in Warsaw, IA REGNUM reminds.
