Belarus refuses to extradit Janybek Bakiyev to Kyrgyzstan
The refusal was allegedly made back in June, before Bakiyev's photos in the center of Minsk were published.
According to the information provided by BelaPAN, the General public prosecution of our country referred to the Convention on legal help and legal relations on civil, family and criminal cases. The Belarusian prosecutors think that Janybek Bakiyev is persecuted on political motives. According to the officals of the General Public prosecution, they conveyed this position to the official Bishkek back in June.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Kyrgyzstan Interior Ministry claimed in the beginning of August that they had no official reply from Belarus.
Let us remind you, Belarusian activist Mikhail Pashkevich accidentally took pictures of Janybek Bakiyev, his bodyguard Rustam Saiduyev and former deputy Takhir Rysaliyev in the center of Minsk several weeks ago. All of them are under investigation in Kyrgyzstan upon accusation of murders and other crimes. As Belarusian authorities did not reply to the oral request of Kyrgyzstan, this country's Ambassador was recalled from Minsk on August 24.
